We recognise that families need a broad range of practical support to meet the various needs of their family.
We offer support from guidance on children’s behaviour, a debt service, housing issues, an EU drop-in, parenting programmes, support to fathers and male carers, employment support, we support families that are suffering from domestic violence, and can support parents with children who have complex health needs.
Our Family Support Team is highly skilled and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of families and their children. Our Family Support Workers are bilingual, the languages they speak are, Urdu, Punjabi, Hinko, Pushto, Polish, Czech, Slovakian, Russian and Latvian.
Families needing additional support may be referred to our Children’s Centre by an external agency such as a Health Visitor or Midwife. Parents can also make a self-referral by coming in to one of centres or by telephone.
How we will work together
We will agree with you on what support you need and your family’s goals. We will work on three key questions:
- What are we worried about?
- What is going well and who helps you?
- Who needs to do what to make the worries go away?
We will be open and frank with each other about any worries and how we can make the situation better.
You may be offered help through a parenting course and there are a range of different parenting courses to suit your needs.
