The Canterbury Children’s Centre is situated on the edge of the Canterbury estate in Bradford’s Little Horton ward. It serves a population of 1,286 0-4 year old children.
There are 4 primary schools with all providing Early Years provision. There is also the Canterbury Nursery school with Ofsted Outstanding judgement. In total there are 2 Ofsted Outstanding Early Years setting across the reach.
Mobility in the reach is higher than Bradford, however, there is also a section of the population that is very stable, with parents who attended the Canterbury Nursery school as children are now bringing their own children.
The ethnic make-up of families living in the reach and accessing the Centre is varied and currently there are 19 different languages spoken by children attending the Centre. 88.5% of families living in the reach are of BME heritage.
The largest minority ethnic population within the reach are families from Pakistani backgrounds, however, there is a steady increase in the number of children from EU migrant families.
